Mr. Connell, I've recently read Unpleasant Tales, The Lives of Notorious Cooks, The Architect and The Life of Polycrates... and found them all not only superb in their execution, but also very in tune with my personal aesthetic tastes, which highly increased my enjoyment of them. I must admit a lot of the history and art references escaped me, but there is also a certain joy in researching and learning new things (or rather, learning about old things). "The maker of fine instruments" is one of the best music-themed stories I've read to date. I also liked "the chymical wedding of Des Esseintes" and "maledict Michela" very much.
Anyway, I really just wanted to say I have been absolutely marveled by what I've read so far, and am looking forward to diving further into your bibliography. Warm regards from Mexico.
