THE CONSPIRACY AGAINST THE HUMAN RACE Available for Pre-Order

I ordered my copy. I had to wait a few days from the first announcement, because I had to take my cat to the vet and then wait until payday. It was always in the back of my mind that the journal Collapse Volume IV: Concept Horror - where TL provided a preview of Conspiracy - is the only issue of Collapse to sell out. And it had a 1000 print run. So I was afraid to wait too long, because I can't remember when I have looked forward to a book so much.

The chapter titles are great; they all sound intriguing. And I really like the cover. I recognized Ligotti's silhouette immediately, but I can't remember where I saw the original photo. The cover reminds me of a passage from I Have a Special Plan for this World. "And I stand waiting for them..."

There are many who have designs upon this world
And dream of wild and vast reformations-
I have heard them talking in their sleep
Of elegant mutations and cunning annihilations
I have heard them whispering in the
corners of dark houses
And in the alleys and narrow backstreets
of this crooked creaking universe
Which they-with their new designs-would make
straight and sound

But each of these new and ill-conceived designs
is deranged in its heart
For they see this world as if it were alone and original
And not as only one of countless others
whose nightmares all proceed
Like a hideous garden grown from a single seed

I have heard these dreamers talking in their sleep
And I stand waiting for them
As at the top of a darkened flight of stairs-
They know nothing of me
And nothing of the secrets of my special plan
While I know every crooked creaking step
of theirs

Considering the release of MWINYD does anyone think the new Ligotti work will contain a signed bookplate or signature at all? That would be a fun, unexpected surprise.

My guess is that it will not, as I am quite amazed of the fact that we will be getting a limited hardcover of this work for $25. Kudos to Hippocampus for keeping this book financially accessible.

Collapse Volume IV: Concept Horror is online.

I would like TCATHR but I can't get over the postage cost ($20.00 to the UK).

I have also ordered my copy, and I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable price to Canada, even including shipping. And this thread also reminds me that I have not read that issue of Collapse yet, although it has been collecting dust on my shelves since it was first published. Shame on me!

Just ordered it. Shipping costs are steep (as Morpheus says; in my case: Netherlands), but I'll give other things a miss to compensate. This is a must-have.

The Conspiracy....won't be available on the 'international market'?
(in my case the shipping is quite expensive )

Anyone know what kind of ship time we're looking at?

(And the shipping costs are pretty steep for us in the U.S., too -- $10.50 for me, from New York to Georgia.)

edit: Ah, even after ordering, I didn't notice the "April 2010" release date. That's ... agonizing.

If you've read enough Ligotti, you've doubtless offered up your view of the ways things are. $20 isn't really that much a sacrifice for such an item. I paid $25 for delivery, and felt privileged.

I ordered a few books in order to offset the shipping costs. If you only buy TCATHR, the shipping cost ratio is 42%...ouch! Hippocampus is offering a free copy of Merritt's "The Metal Monster when you buy Blackwood's 'Incredible Adventures', so that's a great way to get some good reads and lower the ratio. That said, I can't wait to get the book in my hands.

Will there be a soft cover version?

I somehow managed to grab a soft cover version of teatro grotessco... and I am in desperate need of more Ligotti...

There is not one currently planned, but it's always possible. If I find out to the contrary I'll post it. Whether or not there will be a PB run will likely be determined by how well received the HC edition is. You know how markets work; if there is a demand, the chances of it happening are significantly better.
