Nicole Cushing is a great writer. Very underrated. Shame she stopped posting here.
Agree with latter statement. I was privileged to publish one of her stories.
Regarding, the first bit, I did not claim that!

Ah, that was just what I took from your earlier response when you said my impression all the regulars on here were male was strange.

Re: The Southern Reach Trilogy

Luciferfell wrote, "Female weird horror writers who appreciate and are influenced by Ligotti include: Livia Llewellyn, Caitlin Kiernan, Anne-Sylvie Salzman, Gemma Files."

Thanks for this list. I had not read either Gemma Files or A-S Salzman, and will rectify this immediately!

Somehow I have thought of Kiernan as primarily Lovecraft-influenced, but that doesn't mean Ligotti is not another main influence. Appreciated.

Re: The Southern Reach Trilogy

Darkscapes by Anne-Sylvie Salzman is amazing.

Your fall should be like the fall of mountains. But I was before mountains. I was in the beginning, and shall be forever. The first and the last. The world come full circle. I am not the wheel. I am the hand that turns the wheel. I am Time, the Destroyer. I was the wind and the stars before this. Before planets. Before heaven and hell. And when all is done, I will be wind again, to blow this world as dust back into endless space. To me the coming and going of Man is as nothing.

I remember Darkscapes was a translation of this author's stories from French. I just checked her on Noosfere and see that Salzman's output consists of six books:

Anne-Sylvie SALZMAN - Bibliographie Livres - Biographie - nooSFere

I really need to investigate her French-language output further. There is also a bilingual collection of hers: Dits des xhuxha’i / Tales of the xhuxha’i.

Thanks for reminding me about this author, Miguel.

The response so far must be disappointing.

Probably the wrong place to ask, but does anybody know why "The Need for an Explanation"-thread was locked?

Yeah, I was wondering about what happened with that thread myself. I assume it was locked because it was in danger of getting interesting.

Yes, the responses from James, Des, Colby, Miguel and you have proven to me that TLO is not a sausage fest.
