Re: Ex Occidente Press

The John Howard collection looks interesting; I'll definitely be placing an order in the next few days. Anyone else here who hasn't received the Mark Samuels book yet? I've been watching the post for my copy every day, but no package has arrived.

Re: Ex Occidente Press

It's nice to see them cranking production up. Anyone have an idea of what's next on the list for summer and fall?

I believe it is George Berguño's The Sons of Ishmael and D.P. Watt's An Emporium of Automata. The Master in Café Morphine is going to be ready soon as well, it has been delayed slightly since Dan has been working on a very nice exclusive addition to the announced volume.

My own copies still haven't arrived either. It's very disappointing.

Re: Ex Occidente Press

My own copy arrived fairly quickly for post from across Europe.

Just incase anyone does not yet know the list of contents has changed slightly from the one on the website. The volume now contains an extra story and an article:

Losenef Express
Xapalpa
Glickman the Bibliophile
The Man Who Collected Machen
A Slave of Melancholy
Thyxxolqu
A Question of Obeying Orders
The Age of Decayed Futurity
The Black Mould
Nor Unto Death Utterly
A Contaminated Text
A Great Life Spoilt
*

Article on the connection between Wilde, Douglas and Machen.

Re: Ex Occidente Press

A Great Life Spoilt was originally published by Tartarus Press in the volume AKLO. I'm not sure, but I don't think revisions have been made. For those who don't own AKLO, I think it's a very nice addition to the book.

Glyphotech left me somewhat lukewarm, although Samuels' as always left some very striking images. The Man Who Collected Machen is, in my opinion much better than Glyphotech and feels, for me at least, to have more of a common theme; many stories share some variant of a necropolis, and that is mirrored and turned into what could be termed some of the characters' personal necropolises (and not necropolices, as I mistyped the word the first time).

The Black Cupboard and The Silver Voices are out, and have arrived in Copenhagen. Both are beautiful books, gold stamps are extraordinary.

Oh, there's a cool review of TMWCM here:

Also a photo of a ginger tom reading my first book.

And if you keep on going there's also a review of the immortal Q's RYAOB.
