Re: Ex Occidente Press
When did you place the order? I know Tartarus Press has a message up on their website stating that it's taking over a month for things to reach the US due to heightened security and whatnot, so that may be what's delaying your book(s).

Re: Ex Occidente Press
I don't remember when the order was placed, but back in mid-December the books supposedly moved from Romania to the U.K., and then next stop US, but nothing so far.

Received my purchase of THE PEACOCK ESCRITOIRE by Mark Valentine. Speechless... for the moment.

Re: Ex Occidente Press
In the spirit of real-time reviewing, I shall give my first impressions, without knowing anything other than those first impressions.
I make no other comment (of liking or disliking) - so far, without reading anything inside - other than describing that it is designed like a plush decorated sizeable purple escritoire which folds open to reveal a luxury book of stories (?) in an enlarged version of the previous Passport Levant formats on one side of the escritoire and, on the other side, a bundle of loose leaves (like luxury letter paper?) which I have not yet unribboned but I can see they contain text and pictures. There is a seemingly real peacock feather decking this bundle. des

Re: Ex Occidente Press
I never implied that Dan was unreliable. On the contrary our communication has been very good from the very beginning, and I am grateful for that.
It;s just that with limited funds I can't afford to be at the mercy of such a haphazard system. I've got enough gray hair.

Re: Ex Occidente Press
Salut Clive,
Here is what Daniel W. told me about the forthcoming "The Ten Dictates of Alfred Tesseller": "This will definitely be finished by the end of April (sooner in April if I am physically able). I give you my guarantee. Given the nature of its contents I would really like the book published in May (as this is the month of my birthday). If this is possible then could you send my apologies to those customers that have enquired and tell them that the delay is entirely my fault - you have enquired of it many times and I have failed to deliver. It will be there though, and I hope it will be to your liking." Daniel is one of the most unsung visionaries in the whole weird, fantastic spectrum. He should be referred to as Master Watt rather than "D.P. Watt". The Alfred Tesseller volume will prove this. I should check the description on the press's site because I am not aware if I've mentioned there the fact that this exclusive edition comes fully illustrated. I am mentioning it here. On a slightly different note, I heartily recommend Daniel Watt's non-fiction volumes as well, especially "Fragmentary Futures: Blanchot, Beckett, Coetzee", which I was happy to receive from the author's hands when we met in Bucharest, last summer. Regards, Dan
