It's good to see you are not retiring from reviewing altogether, Nemonymous. Or writing.

Re: Ex Occidente Press
At Dusk by Mark Valentine and Numbered as Sand or the Stars by John Howard are now in stock and shipping. And I am pretty sure they will not remain "in stock" for too long.
At Dusk comes with five variant boards, while John's book come with four variants. Originally, I had the intention to release all five Last Thinkers volumes at once. And have it on sell only as a set. Also, the original idea was that of miniature books, octavo format. That said, I've realized that would be way too expensive for some people (almost $700 per set), so I have decided to give the readers the chance to buy each volume individually. Now instead of mini books we are speaking about tall, oversized format volumes and instead of five volumes, now they are six. Those who have pre-ordered the Last Thinkers set when it was only $150 and also bought At Dusk by Mark Valentine will receive the slipcase and the other four volumes in the series (Colin Insole, D.P. Watt, Jonathan Wood and Geticus Polus) plus Bricked-Up Windows by Alexander Vona (limited to 48 copies; now at the bindery) at no extra costs. Regards, Dan | |||||||||||

Re: Ex Occidente Press
Quite a departure there from the (outward) house style (inside looking pure Ex Occidente) - impressive, to say the least. I really like the way Dan is experimenting with different formats - first the oversized and excellent Secret Europe, then the little prayer books for Charlton and John Derek (both should be something for the more spook-oriented readers who might have had difficulties with the decadent Eurocentric tone of other recent titles). Books to own and treasure, I say.

Re: Ex Occidente Press
WOW! I only wish that I had the means to acquire each and every of the variatiaons ... (but then again, if I had the means to do that, there probably wouldn't be that much joy in collecting, but that's a different story).
I can only second thujone's opinion regarding the experiments with the format of the books. |

Re: Ex Occidente Press
Huzzah! Knowing the dirth of translators I was concerned this would not go ahead, so to hear it's in production now is exciting news indeed.

Re: Ex Occidente Press
Very exciting news indeed. Actually, I find it very strange that no one has undertaken a translation into English before this, given the reception it has met on the continent. But this seems to show that Ex Occidente is a step ahead of a lot of other publishers.
I hope a Danish translation will eventually come, but a lack of translators seems to be a universal problem. |
