The reprints you're looking for
Hi, all. Doing a bit of market research here.
What are we looking for, en masse, as a limited edition reprint? Subterranean Press has a lot of the Ligotti stuff covered. Who else do you want to see back in print, of only briefly? Further, what's missing from the reprints you already have? Cheers.

Re: The reprints you're looking for
Interestingly I once considered contacting someone about the possibility of putting together a Sullivan collection that would gather together most of the material from the Ghost Story Press collection along with some of his other Fin-de-siecle items. If someone should do this it would render a great service to lovers of English Decadence.
There is always the possibility of producing otherwise well known works in deluxe editions as Tartarus sometimes do. For instance while The Street of Crocodiles is out in yellowing pulp paperback from Penguin I know I would happily pay twenty five to thirty five pounds for a nice sewn hardcover version. Villiers De L'Isle-Adam's Conte Cruels would be another very good item for this treatment particularly since it's been out of print in paperback format since the 'eighties.

Re: The reprints you're looking for
I'd like to see any (or all) of Jean Ray's collections back in print. And Thomas Owen, because I saw him mentioned in another thread here and would love to read The Desolate Presence.

Re: The reprints you're looking for
I honestly think there would be a huge market for a reprint (even paperback) of the full run of Ghost Story Press books. Also, another reprint that would sell amazingly well would be Eddie Angerhuber's "Nocturnal Products."

Re: The reprints you're looking for
Regarding GSP, some of them are out in relatively cheap paperbacks now.
James Platt's Tales of the Supernatural (judging from the one story I managed to actually read through, it's an absolutely impossibly bad collection) is in print as a pb together with Cram's Black Spirits and White (not GSP, I know). http://www.coachwhipbooks.com/titles...grotesque.html Ingulphus' collection is also in print as paperback. http://www.coachwhipbooks.com/titles...nt-haunts.html http://www.oleanderpress.com/index.p...category_id=25 E. & H. Heron's Flaxman Low, Psychic Detective is in print as a hardback from Ash-Tree Press. http://www.ash-tree.bc.ca/atp92flaxmanlow.htm H.D. Everett's collection is in print, under a different title, from Wordsworth Editions. http://www.wordsworth-editions.com/a...tt-henrietta-d. And James McBryde's The Story of a Troll-Hunt is also available as paperback. http://www.coachwhipbooks.com/titles/trollhunt.html Everett's collection I found quite good; the rest of the ones in print I confess I found unremarkable. Of course, the GSP books one can't get in any other physical edition are the ones one would really like to see in print. L.A. Lewis' collection I thought to be very, very good, as is the Vincent O'Sullivan collection. I would like to see Weighell, Rowlands, Sucksmith and Cowles back in print as well, since I haven't been able to track them down in affordable copies, but I don't know if they are worth reading. I do have an inkling though, that they may very well be. |

Re: The reprints you're looking for
The Frederick Cowles stories have recently been released as 3 separate ebooks by Ashtree Press. They are also working on releasing an expanded version of Weighell's The White Road, in hardback format I believe, but I have no idea when that will actually be published.

Re: The reprints you're looking for
I, too, though the GSP Platt collection was very poor. The Lewis collection was patchy but had some good moments. The G.S.P. books have been pretty well picked-over for what was best amongst them.
I can report that an expanded reprint of Owen's "The Desolate Presence" is being worked on with the original translator, but patience is required... Advance orders are not yet being taken :-) All the best Ray
