  • Hey Dr. Bantham:

I wrote Dr. Locrian about this, but received no reply. Can you tell me the premise of this group, and how it would be possible to join?

    Thanks!!
I found your renditions to be quite moving, Dr.;especially 'Love Will tear Us Apart', 'Disorder', and your acoustic improvisation of 'Still Ill'. Keep going, Doc.
Dr. Bantham, I regret that it's taken me so long to get around to leaving you this message, but I wanted to thank you for your most recent post in the "Your favourite song at the moment.." thread. Unfortunately, I didn't have an opportunity to properly listen to your Joy Division covers, though I was very eager to do so. So, should you ever again decide to unearth your Autosuggested Interpretations, I would certainly be interested in hearing them. Thanks again, Dr. Take care. -Mad M.
PPS. Love the quote, by the way. In Spain we had a saying that seems to encapsulate, up to a point, the essence of it. These days, when anyone asks me why I still persist on living I reply : "Pur juder..." (in a Galician accent). Translation: "Because it irritates "Them". (Actually, literally, "to fuck them up". Them being the Machine, the System, Crapitalism, whatever...) Salut. UDD
Dear Doctor, Just replying to your kind message. Funny ol' thing, synchronicity... I was just thinking last night (whilst reading Dr. Locrian's Asylum) that perhaps I'd write a wee post on the extraordinary prophetic quality of the story. Giggle... You know, you lot seem to be the only ones that occasionally bother communicating with me (the site sent me the only birthday message I got this year - Void bless mindless automated thinggies!) There, that's all for today, except that I'd really wish I could get hold of a Spanish translation of Teatro Grottesco. I so want to intoduce my little brother to the unholy delights of Uncle Tom. If you have any leads, please send them my way. Stay stubbornly groovy. Dodo (still Undead, look you) PS. I like your cat. Used to have one just like that meself, long ago.
I trust my suggestion that your music should accompany a Ligottian narrative wasn't an unwitting error. I listen to a great many radio recordings, and the BBC's At The Mountains of Madness is just one narrative enhanced by an electronic score.
What's going on, Brian? I read earlier that you may be giving up TLO. I didn't know what to say. Now I just read your post in the chatbox. If I can be of any help, I will certainly try.
Thanks, Brian. Don't worry, you guys are fine. I'm the one that's a mess. But I might be finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. (no doubt leading to yet another tunnel, hopefully not as dimly lit.)
Hey Brian! Sorry I haven't listened to more of yer stuff, just one of those periods of time where everything happens at once. I got a real job last month (after being unemployed for a year and a half) and things started picking up with Montag Press at the same time. Don't get to come by here as much I would like, but what can ya do. Keep creating and sharing, I think you have found yet another talent.
Dude, this is what it takes to track you down -- registering on a Cthulhu forum (where you are apparently and unsurprisingly lord and master!). I'm going to be home for Christmas. Let's get together. Hoots and I are prepared to drive down to your place and play some Magic: The Gathering with you. Other options are always available, of course. What say you?

BTW, send me some contact info, via Facebook or whatever. You know, stuff like phone, e-mail, address,.......
semiosteve2.net2go.com has a little trifle that might be of historical interest...Ligotti's first published story appeared a few pages prior.
Hey Doctor, sorry to be a pain but is it possible we could have the Ex Occidente Press thread back soon?
Dr. Bantham, I noticed that we cannot upload animated gif images to be used as avatars. Why not? It could be an interested new feature.
That is one of the best stills I have ever seen from the film, and believe me, I've seen a few. Many thanks. I am honoured by your friendship.
Wilum wants me to post the recording I did of "Some Distant Baying Sound" but the site won't let me upload it.

Can I email it to you somewhere?

    regards
Dr. B, I share your trepidation re: crowds. I have seen two live performances in the last 10 years: Japanese psych-damage trio High Rise with noisy rockers Liquorball and Noothgrush back around 2000, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts last year.

High Rise played in a small coffee bar and the show was not only bearable but unbelievably awesome (Liquorball were also great). Joan Jett played The Stockton Asparagus Festival, which was held in a tightly cordoned-off area of lovely downtown Stockton, CA. The festival in general was so crowded that I had to watch most of the set from an area outside the official music venue. The music was great but the experience was horrible.

I can't believe I used to go to the shows that I did way back when...
