  • Hullo, my darling. This has been one rough month, but I am writing the new book, albeit very slowly. My love to you.
:D ;) That made me laugh.

Not sure if this would interest you, but in case it might, here is a link to a site with a lot of information about the band King Crimson (apparently the site is closely associated with Peter Sinfield, co-founder and member of the band for many of its early incarnations). Especially interesting is the page detailing associations with Chamber's "The King In Yellow" (see the 5th icon from the left at the bottom of the page):

Like that pic. Statuary of beauty and death, perhaps? Haven't found anything worth sharing lately, still looking though. Off to watch episode 4 of Les Vampires. Have a great evening 8]

Not certain, but I think that is an original movie poster for the 1915 silent French 10-part series Les Vampires. Have you seen it? Just got through watching the first episode. There was a castle with a secret passage, a severed detective's head, and a mysterious group of eponymous burglers/murderers. Must be one of the earliest movies containing horror elements. Fun to watch, looking forward to episode two. Here are links to all 10 episodes (scroll to the bottom of the page):

    Thanks for the pic! :)
By all means, do watch "Isle of the Dead" if you like B-grade horror movies from the black and white era. Yet be aware this is the least of the efforts resulting from the genius of producer Val Lewton. "Cat People", "I Walked With A Zombie", and "The Leopard Man" are much more interesting and were, in fact, highly influential on the evolution of the horror movie aesthetic.
I can see how translating Teatro Grotesco into Greek would be a time consuming activity. Probably a difficult one too, trying to preserve all the nuances of Ligotti's writing (who, after all, is subtler?). Yet I do not doubt you are equal to the task. And what a worthy and rewarding task, to bring the words of Ligotti to such a large group of people. Happy Holidays to you, my friend!
Other day I was watching a Val Lewton horror movie set in Greece ("Isle of the Dead") wherein Karloff's character becomes consumed with the idea that the heroine is a forvalaka. It made me think of the book you had written about the many and complex permutations of the vampire in Greek folklore. Still have plans to maybe translate it into English one day? Hope so, I'd very much like to read it.
