  • We wanted to know whether you'd be interested in providing a skit for our album, much of which, content-wise, is informed by The Conspiracy Against the Human Race.
    Thanks for accepting my request, Tom; I hope this message finds you as well as possible. Take care, and thanks again.
    Mr. Ligotti, I´ve been a big fan of yours. Would like to know if you already visited my blog, about antinatalism, which has a lot of posts and references to you.

    The Last Page.

    I have the following books by you:
    Teatro Grottesco;
    The Nightmare Factory;
    My Work Is Not Yet Done,
    TCAHR;

    and

    The Ligotti Reader.

    I will keep buying other material, in time, and my fiction is inspired a lot by you.

    Many cheers.
    D
    Dear Mr. Ligotti,

    Thank you for the wonderful book CATHR and the rest of your work that I am also reading right now.

    I find that I am in complete agreement with everything you have to say about the utter futility of existence and the desirability of non-existence.

    I consider you to be among my favorite authors out there, along Schopenhauer, Cioran and Benatar.

    I am very interested in talking to you if such an opportunity presented itself.

    I also have a blog myself at:
    Efilism/Antinatalism

    Take care and may existence end as soon as possible.
    P.S. In addition to all else I have mentioned, there's one more reason why I would like to speak to you. It's horrible being philosophically on a completely different level to everyone around you; to not have anyone who shares your bleak views of the world and who proceed mindlessly with their clockwork, pointless lives, going about their business of work, romance and procreation which only serves to sustain the perpetuity of misery and suffering. There is a distinct lasting displeasure that comes from this isolation, something only partly satisfied through the works of writers, many of which are centuries dead - and I would be willing to bet you experience this feeling too. I feel like I would be much less unhappy if I could speak to just one person who shares the same view of the world as me.
    I need philosophical guidance, however. It's of vital importance to me that I get into contact with you. There are very few people that share your view of the world, Mr Ligotti, and are simultaneously in a position to act on those beliefs. I would be very happy if I could ever speak with you one day.

    With regards,
    A machine that identifies itself as David
    To me, simply annihilating all life on Earth would not be enough. Once we develop the technological capacity to end life on that scale, it should be extended to all sentient life in the Universe. I'm currently studying artificial intelligence at university, and what you describe in your book as a 'messianic individual' is what I've aspired to be over the past few years. I believe developments in the field of AI can lead to eventual elimination of all sentient life in the Universe - this could even be possible within the next few decades or centuries if the predictions of such people like Ray Kurzweil prove to be accurate.
    I'm quite miserable, and many of the things that you wrote about echoed realisations that I've already experienced in the past few years of my life. I'm fully aware of myself as an information-processing system, a survival machine constructed as an enterprise by my genes to serve their selfish interests of propagation. I understand that free will is an illusion, that my consciousness is an emergent property of the interaction of the 50 billion or so neurons that comprise my 1500 gram meat-computer brain. I'm aware that my existence, and the existence of the human race, is completely devoid of any objective meaning and purpose.

    None of this upsets me - what does upset me, more than anything, is the needless suffering of the human race, and indeed all sentient life, when it quite clear that we would all be better off not existing, something you make perfectly lucid in your own work.
    Dear Mr Ligotti,

    I've recently come across your work, The Conspiracy Against The Human Race - A Short Life of Horror. It provided the most bleak, hopeless and grim view of human existence that I have ever come across.

    That being said, it was brilliant. Out of every philosopher whose works I've across across, every person I know of, it's with you that I find I relate to the strongest. You remind me of a contemporary Schopenhauer sans the interesting but ultimately meaningless metaphysical constructs.
    Hi Mr Ligotti. I'm from England UK. I discovered your work about a year ago. My life is now more horrible than before -Thank you! Anthony.
