How can any work of fiction (or cinema) avoid the accusation of *appearing* contrived?

I just watched 'The Moth' episode of LOST.

Ultimately, it can't. This is the precise reason that I no longer record poetic inspirations. Oh, well....

I'm not sure what you mean by that, GS. It sounds sad. An empty universe where true artistic communication is only possible if skulls are welded together socket to socket.

des, in my case, I reached a point many years ago where I felt that my poetry was contrived, pretentious. It is sad. It's like becoming mute. I may not record my poetry for posterity anymore, but it does run through my head, and the decent stuff is expressed in other ways. Waste not, want not.
