Are you drinking IF yet? :p The usual bluish haze here...

I am having a glass of Lindeman's Merlot 2007 Bin 40. I am not a wine snob, mind you. I am quite fond of Australian reds and this bottle was on sale at Krogers for under seven bucks. Tasty!

Cheers, Dr. B. I know of another TLO member who is fond of full-bodied Australian reds. ;) I'm not a wine snob either, but I've consumed vast quantities of the stuff over the past decade. I'm curious to know which wines we are exporting to your side of the world, and which ones are popular. Australian reds are generally characterised by being BIG! More oomph! and less subtlety than the French. Which might appeal to Americans...

I am now drinking green ginger wine after my four pints of guinness down the pub; Which went very well, since you should ask, and I now know more about the battle strategies of the ancient Romans than any sane drunk could ever hope to. i thought I'd write this as i'm not fit to write about anything else... momentarily and forever after until here shall we pop. Amen.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is on sale (say that three times fast) at my local Safeway grocery store for $24.99/case, about $1.04 per bottle. Given it's high quality, local-ness (it is brewed about 90 minutes away), and relative cheapness, it is currently my drink of choice. I still love my Guinness Extra Stout, but it is brewed in Canada and comes in at about $36-40/case. I'll spend that extra money on expensive books and computer upgrades, thank you.

My wife, bless her heart, has found a $3.99 bottle of wine at the local Trader Joe's that she likes: Blue Fin 2007 California Petite Sirah. I copied that directly off the label as I know nothing of wine, I am a beer guy. Speaking of, this bottle is empty! Time for a refill...

I recently read in an article that William S. Burroughs' favorite cocktail was a simple vodka & cola. Since then, I've been consuming them almost nightly. I doubt tonight will be an exception. Cheers to all my friends here at TLO!
