I'm aware that this thread has been abandoned for several years, but since I consider myself a fan of Rampo's work, I wanted to make a contribution.
I was fascinated by the collection "Japanese Tales of Mystery & Imagination" (published by Tuttle) – "The Human Chair" in particular.
I have just finished reading "Beast in the Shadows" (Penguin Books) and found out that they are releasing more of his crime fiction in their rather new "Penguin Crime" series.
"Beast in the Shadows" is a short and unsettling tale about a woman being stalked, and a crime author turned sleuth trying to protect her from another writer of grotesque fiction whom he believes is behind the stalking.
