Gahan Wilson Teleplay

Druidic

I never knew Gahan Wilson did a teleplay of one of his stories (“Leavings”) for that usually cheesy 80’s horror anthology Monsters. It features Tony Shalhoub (Monk) and is a pretty enjoyable story of ‘underground’ horror. I always liked Wilson’s stuff, both his fiction and his cartoons and this came as a surprise.

Thanks for posting this, Druidic. I really enjoyed the story and it is very much in the Gahan Wilson mold. I am a big fan of his work and have been following it for years. I have the two volume hardcover set of his collected works that were finally published not too many years ago. (Still incomplete!). There is supposed to be a documentary about him floating around out there too that I still haven't seen. I also have a number of his other books, but I wasn't aware of this teleplay until you posted it.

Glad you enjoyed it, ben! I thought it was pretty good myself, far better than the typical Monsters offering. The acting was a hoot too.

And, yes, Gahan is one of my favorites also. My post "The Box" was definitely influenced by his work.

I've always had a fondness for stories like "Far Below", "Sentinels", "The Rats in the Walls", "The Titan in the Crypt"...Underground Horror is my thing, from subways to crepuscular caverns!

Here's a link to the documentary trailer:

The full documentary was on YouTube but it has been removed.
