I'm pretty excited for this one. I just hope they remain focused on exploring the human experience of being alone in outer space. The fact they used Arvo Part's 'Spiegel Im Spiegel' at the ends gives me a bit of hope, but who knows. It is hollywood after all.

When I was young, maybe 8 or 9 years old, my dad used to watch lots of videos and programs about space and space missions. For a period of time I suffered repeating dreams where I was an astronaut above Earth cut loose into black infinity.

Eventually I would drift out as far as Jupiter (I know, I wouldn't have enough oxygen to reach that far), with its weird bands of clouds moving at different speeds, and its red spot. Beautiful and terrifying. I'd be sucked in by its gravitational pull in through violent storms in its atmosphere and the dream would end, presumably I'd died at that point.

Would be good if this film had the same ending.

Not a bad film but a bit more Hollywood than the marketing would have you believe: plucky amateur with tragic back-story who, once the plot kicks in, faces nonstop threats as the film hurtles toward its climax. And the soundtrack is incredibly blatant, hammering you over the head so you know what emotion you're supposed to be feeling at any given moment.

Not the worst film I've seen by a long shot but I would've preferred it if the whole thing had been a bit more subtle.

I guess I was hoping the apeirophobia aspect would be more prominent. As it happened, it was barely there. Oh well. I still enjoyed the movie, though. But I'll agree the score was a bit too blatant at times.
