Movie Recommendations

It's heartening to see that two argentinian horror films, Terrified (2017) and When Evil Lurks (2023), got great reviews, since most horror films done here are super crappy, like Necronomicon (2018). God, that movie is awful.

I think even with the best horror movie of 2023 (When Evil Lurks) Argentina could not be prepared to the evil clown Javier Milei

We shall see. This one is an evil clown, but the previous ones owned the circus.

I watched The Palace (2023) by Roman Polanski. The only thing I can say about it is that a movie that bad made by such a master can only be bad on purpose; I cannot imagine what was going on in Polanski's mind. Mickey Rourke's face is something to behold and a perfect example of the uncanny valley at work; it even appears to be melting.

I just seen The Vourdalak. It's not like many other horror comedies I've ever seen because the sensibilities are very different. There's a corpse character created completely through puppetry and I don't think it works completely but it's a bold choice. Based on the same Tolstoy story that was in Mario Bava's Black Sabbath. It's pretty good.

I love the fact that the main focus of Alex Garland's Civil War (2024) is not the civil war. That film deserves to be seen in the loudest cinema screen.
