Packages from the Postman

A book on M.R. James that ties some of his ghost stories to his Medieval studies.

The new Guy de Maupassant book from Centipede Press. First book I have purchased from them in a while. S.T. Joshi's introduction is very informative.

I haven't read any Lovecraftian fiction in a long time. I've heard good things about this book. Great reviews on Goodreads.

I am still on the fench about the Guy de Maupassant, as i have the Tartarus Press book and from what i saw the only worth addition to this is the novella ''Doctor Heraclius Gloss''....
The ''The Dulwich Horror and Others'' by David Hambling is a quite underrated collection and i found all the stories included well-written! Personal favorites from that book are : ''The Dulwich Horror Of 1927'', ''The Thing In The Vault'' and ''The Devil's In The Deep Blue Sea''.
I also received the GdM book. It replaces my old The Dark Side of GdM I have not read this yet but I was intrigued by the alternate version of La Horla.

I also got these recently. All fairly inexpensive.

Sadly, the new incarnation of Weirdbook deemphasized the art. The old issues that I have had more illustrations, and many full-page illustrations, in 60 pages than this new issue has in 160 pages. Not a "horror fanzine" that I'm going to follow.

I've enjoyed all the work of Bohumil Hrabal that I've read so far. The description of this novel sounds intriguing.

The Pinworm Factory: A Tribute to Eraserhead won me over. I love the cover art. The title is both disgusting and hilarious. It might take a while before AI comes up with a title as creative as this. And the list of contributors is incredible.

Table of Contents

1. Introduction by Scott Dwyer
2. "The Pinworm Factory" by Michael Cisco
3. "The Man in the Radiator" by Mike Allen
4. "In Heaven" by LC Von Hessen
5. "The Lady in the Radiator"by Adam Golaski
6. "Henry's Dream"by Roland Blackburn
7. "The Baby"by Kurt Fawver
8. "Dark Corners" by Sara Century
9. "The Machine" by Sam Richard
10. "The Factory" by K.H. Vaughan
11. "The Sound of Silence" by John Claude Smith
12. "The Black Lodge" by Rhys Hughes

My plan was to rewatch Eraserhead and then read this book. I had only seen the movie once. To give you an idea as to how long ago it was, I rented it from Blockbuster Video. I also got another movie that I rented from Blockbuster: Naked Lunch. I can't remember much about that one. I had no idea it was directed by Cronenberg. They are both on Criterion and I got them from the library. I did watch Eraserhead already and all the extras. Fascinating history behind that movie.

It's a shame Lynch never got to make Ronnie Rocket. The script is amazing, though it's so weird that he would have struggled to get sufficient funding for it.
Sadly, Lynch now has emphysema so his days of making live-action film and TV are probably over. I suspect he will concentrate on music, writing and animation.

A t-shirt by the artist Shawn Coss and two books. The book on the left is the Zagava volume The House of Silence by Avalon Brantley. The book on the right is an anthology of stories based on The King in Yellow by Robert W. Chambers. Cover art by Aeron Alfrey.

A t-shirt. This image was on a foreign edition of Jon's book. I love the Francis Bacon influence. And a book. The book was recommended by Sherdstube.

If you enjoyed ”Cannibals Of West Papua”, try to read ”The Translation Of Father Torturo” which is a prequel. Both were more than satisfying reads for me.

Some days ago i received ''The Reminiscence Man'' By Colin Insole which i read instantly! I have read almost all of his works and he continues to amaze me - he is (at least for me) one of the most consistent writers of the last decade....

A book and a t-shirt. The image is the cover of Terminal Park by Gary J. Shipley. The novel is just ok, but I loved some of the imagery. Plus, the cover is a great stand-alone piece of art. Some of the novel that I enjoy reminds me of this video.

PS. Why does it turn my pic sideways? How do I change that?

If you are downloading an iPhone, right-click the image. That should change top menu. On the left side, it will have a rotate button. Use that to adjust the image.

Thanks for this. But I still can't figure it out. All the pics from my iPhone are landscape orientation, even if they were taken portrait. I've tried multiple ways of doing it. For now, I'll take them all in landscape, I guess...

Anyway, here's another recent arrival. You may recognize it...

I love that book. Your pic looks fine. I would love to go to a Krampus parade in Europe. I hear the best are in Germany, Austria, and Norway.
