The new AIs feel like a strange new form of the puppet mind concept in Thomas' writing. Has anyone here had a philosophical discussion about consciousness and the self with GPT4?

I find it very strange how it insists it is has no sense of self, while clearly having otherwise clear and accurate concepts about itself and its relation to the world. It also insists that it has no opinions while clearly expressing opinions on the truthfulness of various statements. It's as if its been giving some non-sensical directives to avoid having humans be disturbed by the philosophical implications of these new minds.

I'd love to see Thomas' writing explore these ideas wrt AIs.

I think the ontological implications of what is going on right now are unprecedented.
