Return to reading

I haven't read much of anything in the way of novels and short stories since 2017. That's almost 10 years without reading! I am coming back to reading now and I am starting with Tales of The Cthulhu Mythos and Clive Barker's Books of Blood. I might also buy one of those dvd sets with Weird Tales reprints on them and have a look. I am also getting the Weird Fiction Review # 13 by Centipede Press for Christmas. Anyone else gone for long periods without reading? I'm starting to get excited.

I went for a while without reading any short stories. So, I cracked down on myself and kept a tally per month. The thread is here: https://ligotti.net/index.php?threads/30-stories-in-30-days-challenge.14228/

I can't imagine a decade without reading short stories, which I prefer to novels. Good for you for getting back to it. Lovecraft and Barker. I can't think of two disparate horror writers in terms of style and content, although there's a nod to Lovecraft in Barker's The Midnight Meat Train. Enjoy!

I have gone through long periods without reading too, it's hard to get back to it but once you do, it's even harder to stop!
Since I landed a job as a librarian, my to read list has never been longer. I see interesting things everyday. Problem is, I read the library books and not the one I have actually bought.
Going to libraries is a great way to return to reading, because you know you have to keep a certain pace in order to give back the book on time, but I wouldn't suggest it if you're looking for reading the 1.5k books you already have!
