I actually reread Nethescurial the other day and loved it as much the second time as I did the first time, if not more. For me as well this is one of my favourite passages.
A little while after I reread the story I stumbled across this image on the internet of the Nethescurial passage by the artist Markku Metso [attached]
I really like the image, and was particularly drawn to it as the story was still fresh in my mind. I think it does a great job of capturing the “expressionless faces and dead puppet eyes”.
After a little more browsing I found I liked a lot of Markku’s artwork and you can see more of it on his website if you’re interested.
