West Country Tales

Those with a taste for low-key English spookiness might enjoy West Country Tales, a BBC TV series from 1982/3 which was recently posted on YouTube in pretty good quality. There were 14 episodes but not all were supernatural. They’re modest little films but quite atmospheric. My favourites are The Beast, The Poacher, The Visitor and The Sabbatical.

Honestly, finding a platform that actually respects Canadian players and offers transparent terms is getting harder these days. I did some digging on a gambling subreddit and kept seeing lemon casino pop up for its great welcome offers. I made a deposit via Visa and tested out their live dealer blackjack. The stream quality was in perfect HD without any buffering. It's a highly reliable platform if you are tired of the usual shady sites hiding ridiculous rollover requirements.

Thanks for the heads-up, I'll definitely give those specific episodes a watch.

I massively prefer the gritty, atmospheric cinematography of older shows like this anyway. Modern streaming productions always have that over-lit, artificially clean look that completely kills any real tension or dark vibe. It'll be great to watch something that actually relies on proper atmosphere. Appreciate the recommendation!

I was at the tender (and impressionable) age of eleven when these aired on the BBC. Somehow, I was allowed to stay up late to watch them. The Beast scared the hell out of me. A few years ago, I purchased a bunch of selected episodes on DVD from a vendor here in the UK, but the quality of the transfers wasn't great. I don't think the series has ever looked so good. What a joy to be able to see it again like this. Thanks for sharing.
