Re: W. H. Pugmire
Bravo! Good news.
I hope for his speedy recovery. |
Re: W. H. Pugmire
Truly shocking and sad news, and I'm glad to hear there may already be a more positive outcome in follow-up. I discovered Wilum's work pretty recently, and I really enjoy it. His Centipede edition may be literally the most beautiful book I own.
Aside from the matter of his writing, though, as a human being he seems such a true original and such a nice, funny and good-hearted fellow. I first saw him at the Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland, before I knew much about his work. Quite striking in that wild make-up! Also his video-casts on YouTube are wonderful. The world needs many more years of Wilum! |
Re: W. H. Pugmire
From an email I received from today from S.T. "he seems to be doing fine. He'll be released on Tuesday. He says he plans to make big changes in his life--most notably taking better care of himself (which includes taking his meds!!)"

Re: W. H. Pugmire
That was fast!
Rest up, Wilum. |
Re: W. H. Pugmire
Thanks for the well-wishes. I feel like crap, full of vertigo and weakness. It's all my own fault. I see the doc on Friday, then another doktor on ye 13th. Anywhere but bed is uncomfortable. All my own fault. They have assign'd extra meds, and we are putting my mother into a rest home, so the burden of taking care of her will be reieved. It's gonna be a long long time afore I can return to writing, but hopefully that day will come.

Re: W. H. Pugmire
Glad you're doing better Wilum. I can relate to the hospital experience as this summer has been pure hell for me having witnessed a handful of family members contend with a variety of problems. I hope for your quick recovery and ability to create again.

Re: W. H. Pugmire
Just a wee update, for those who have order'd my newer books. Things have been frightfully delay'd, especially with ye hardcover editions of ENCOUNTERS WITH ENOCH COFFIN, the book that I have written with Jeffrey Thomas. Dark Regions Press went through some editorial changes, and the result was not positive and has led to inner chaos. I really regret this, because DRP has been a wonderful house to work with. The trade pb edition of ENOCH COFFIN was publish'd first and is available at Amazon. The deluxe and trade hardcover editions are now scheduled to be published next month. It's a bit frustrating--the deluxe hardcover should have been the first edition printed.
BOHEMIANS OF SESQUA VALLEY was printed this week and Larry will be shipping copies next week. I am especially happy with the artwork for this book, and Arcane Wisdom Press hardcovers are so handsome! Very excited. I am writing a new book with my buddy and long-time Lovecraftian David Barker, but the new specialty house that was going to publish the book has gone out of business, so I have no idea who will publish the thing. Writing, since my mother's death in February, has been extremely difficult--even though the circumstances of home life (living alone in a very quiet neighborhood) are now ideal for writing. I have many ideas for future books, but almoft no energy. I'm tired all the time and usually do nothing but sit in my living room, reading books and napping on my comfy recliner. I now have enough books to my name that I don't feel that great urge to produce produce produce that I experienced when I thought I was gonna die of a heart attack and thus had to write a bunch of new books before I kicked off. Alas, I'm still around--just barely. I have been writing things for a number of anthologies, the coolest of which is S. T. Joshi's SEARCHERS AFTER HORROR anthology to be published by Fedogan & Bremer, for which I have written a new Sesqua tale. And Jessica Salmonson and I wrote an extremely nasty tale set in Arkham for S. T.'s BLACK WINGS III. |
