Re: Forthcoming Books
Re. "AN OBSCURITY OF GHOSTS," Edited by J A Mains (Black Shuck Books)
Following the success of A Suggestion of Ghosts, British Fantasy Award-winning editor J.A. Mains presents a second all-female anthology of ghost stories written between 1876 and 1902. Mains has once again been trawling the archives to find another fifteen tales, fourteen of which have not been anthologised since their original publications. Featuring cover art from multiple time British Fantasy Award-winner Les Edwards, and an introduction by Melissa Edmundson, AN OBSCURITY OF GHOSTS will be another important volume for those interested in the Victorian era of supernatural tales. An Obscurity of Ghosts | Black Shuck Books For those who are interested in this forthcoming work, I was just informed that publication is going to be delayed until towards the end of the year. FYI. |

A GHOSTS & SCHOLARS BOOK OF FOLK HORROR
Sarob Press is delighted to present a superb collection of Jamesian Folk Horror tales. Ten have been selected from the pages of editor Rosemary Pardoe’s journals Ghosts & Scholars and The Ghosts & Scholars MR James Newsletter ~ and seven are newly written especially for this volume. The previously published stories date from as early as 1980 and as recent as 2015. And here you’ll find Folk Horror in a variety of expected and unexpected settings, from ancient burial mounds in Wiltshire and East Anglia to a park in Liverpool, by way of ruins in Ireland, and the countryside/villages of the Lake District, Dorset, Derbyshire and an unspecified southern county. In the new stories the settings range further afield and include Scotland and Greece. In one case, while the setting is Scotland, the Folk Horror comes terrifyingly from pre-war Germany. Authors: Michael Chislett, Chico Kidd, Ramsey Campbell, Jacqueline Simpson, C.E. Ward, Philip Thompson, Terry Lamsley, Kay Fletcher, Geoffrey Warburton, Carole Tyrrell and (the new stories) Gail-Nina Anderson, Helen Grant, Tom Johnstone, Christopher Harman, John Llewellyn Probert, David A. Sutton & S.A. Rennie. Edited & Introduced by Rosemary Pardoe. SAROBLOG - The SAROB PRESS News Blog |

"Would like to know how many pages this will be."
Their FB page has an image of the TOC, looks like 245 pages: https://www.facebook.com/UndertowPubs/ |
Re: Forthcoming Books
I'm certainly intrigued by 'The Silent Garden', but, while there are some impressive contributors listed, I'm not quite ready to lay down £35 (approx.) whilst still being a little vague on its contents and without having seen much of the physical product.
(I'm sure it will be great, but, you know...) |
Re: Forthcoming Books
In a recent Centipede Press newsletter, this caught my eye:
(It lists a number of books, but I singled out one) "Now, for the fall and winter (let’s generously say runs between September and March!), we’d like to get the following done. As more details become clear, we will update this list with better dates and anticipated retail prices." Children of the Kingdom by T.E.D. Klein |

Re: Forthcoming Books
One of the more endearing things about Tartarus Press is how surreptitious their new publication announcements are. Case in point: Inner Europe by Mark Valentine & John Howard. I had no idea this was on the radar until a little post on Facebook was brought to my attention.

Re: Forthcoming Books
Yeah, kind of the opposite of Dark Regions, who have intense advertising campaigns many, many months in advance.
