Re: Forthcoming Books
I read an enthusiastic review of this book in the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Sounds like something I'll check out at the library.

Re: Forthcoming Books
Reposted from today's Centipede Press Newsletter, FYI. For those interested, please note the new T.E.D. Klein date at the bottom:
We did not do so well on our summer list that we announced back in June, and now it turns out we have somewhat failed on our fall list so far. Here are some revised schedules and prices. We are also trying to spread out some of the higher priced offerings. Heaven knows we’re not made out of money! The Woman in Black by Susan Hill. With new introduction and illustrations by Reggie Oliver. Signed by Susan Hill, Reggie Oliver, and cover artist Simon Prades. Currently in printing process. $95-$125. The Howling Studies in the Horror Film by Lee Gambin. Hopefully Halloween. $40. The Man Who Walked Through Cracks by R.A. Lafferty. Mid to late November. $40. Elric of Melniboné by Michael Moorcock. Early November. $150. The Fortress of the Pearl by Michael Moorcock. Early November. $150. The Sailor on the Seas of Fate by Michael Moorcock. Early November. $150. Childhood’s End by Arthur C. Clarke. Probably spring. $295. Cellars by John Shirley. December maybe. $40. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson. This is likely a February or March item. Introduction by Caitlín Kiernan. Re: Forthcoming Books
Didn't I read here or somewhere once that Centipede Press would be doing a volume of John Metcalfe's stories at some point? I've been saving up for it, even. Guess I might have them confused with some other publisher.

"Didn't I read here or somewhere once that Centipede Press would be doing a volume of John Metcalfe's stories at some point?"
In response to my query last summer, Jerad at Centipede sent an email dated July 8 that said, "Metcalfe is still in the works," but I've seen nothing since then. |
Re: Forthcoming Books
My newest book, a novel co-author'd with David Barker--WITCHES IN DREAMLAND--is now available for pre-order at Hippocampus Press. Some of ye novel takes place in Sesqua Valley, but ye majority of the tale is set in H. P. Lovecraft's Dreamlands, a region that offers endless fictive possibilities. The book will be publish'd early next month.

Re. the new book announced on ST Joshi's blog.
I have a lot of respect for Joshi's scholarship, and for his past & present contributions (including his editing work for Centipede Press) but his mocking criticism of other authors seem a bit over the top, as in this new book's TOC. "I am happy to announce that I am (just about) done with my treatise 21st-Century Horror: Weird Fiction at the Turn of the Millennium.....Here is the final table of contents:" Introduction I. The Elite Michael Aronovitz: Teller of Tales Gemma Files: Sex, Myth, and Film Adam Nevill: The Sense of Dread Mark Samuels: Corporate Horror and Others Simon Strantzas: The Cosmic and the Human Jonathan Thomas: A Study in Contrasts II. The Worthies Nicole Cushing: Suicide and Other Horrors Richard Gavin: The Nature of Horror Glen Hirshberg: The Sense of Place John Langan: Tales from the Heart Reggie Oliver: Ghosts and More Ghosts Clint Smith: Decaying Cities, Decaying Lives James Ulmer: Exponent of Quiet Horror III. The Pretenders Laird Barron: Decline and Fall Joe Hill: Like Father, Like Son Brian Keene: Paperback Writer Nick Mamatas: Failed Mimic Paul Tremblay: Borrowing from His Predecessors Jeff VanderMeer: An Aesthetic Catastrophe Works Cited Index S. Re: Forthcoming Books
For those not on the Wormwoodiana or Strange Attractor email lists, an announcement of a very interesting book:
Strange Attractor Press have just announced Incurable - The Haunted Writings of Lionel Johnson, the Decadent Era’s Dark Angel, edited by Nina Antonia, the author of the excellent Eighteen Nineties romance The Greenwood Faun, and dedicated expert on Johnson. It is to be published in mid-October in a special hardback edition limited to 100 copies, and an unlimited paperback edition. Pre-orders may be placed now. The announcement notes: "A lost poet of the decadent era, Lionel Johnson is the shadow man of the 1890s, an enigma “pale as wasted golden hair.” History has all but forgotten Johnson, except as a footnote to the lives of more celebrated characters like W. B. Yeats and Oscar Wilde." Wormwoodiana: Incurable - The Haunted Writings of Lionel Johnson Thanks to Mark Valentine and Wormwoodiana for the notice, and to Strange Attractor Press for reclaiming this lost work! |
Re: Forthcoming Books
This was on the Facebook page for Egaeus Press, very intriguing!
"Announcement perhaps... Charles Wilkinson's very very strange new collection, SPLENDID IN ASH, is coming relatively soon from Egaeus Press, considerably so, more or less, quite possibly..." https://www.facebook.com/pg/egaeus.p...=page_internal |
