I believe that the footage in this video is from a 1960s documentary titled "The Holy Ghost People" that spotlights a particular snake handling church in West Virginia. I've always been fascinated by the music performed in these services, to me it often sounds like a blend of blues, rockabilly and punk rock. This is a shorter video that gives a better example of the music of snake handling services. Not sure if this qualifies as "dark" but the people are handling venomous snakes, drinking strychnine and going into religious ecstasy while playing and singing some wild and raucous music. I think it's pretty damn cool.
