Bands I Loathe
 

Since this thread did not exist, it was necessary to invent it. Some personally despised bands worthy of mention. These are the true nails scraping upon the blackboard of my mind (in reverse order of tolerability):

Guns N' Roses
Styx
Nine Inch Nails
Black Sabbath (after their fourth album)
Def Leppard
Foreigner
Journey (after their third album)

The Moon is a harsh mistress, and I'm not much nicer either,

I remember an early David Schow story "Lonesome Coyote Blues" where one of the protagonists mentions that the sign of a bad band is having a geographic name.

The only band I like with a geographic name is Japan.

Otherwise Boston, Kansas, America, and Asia are pretty good confirmation of this rule-of-thumb.

I can understand the loathing of these bands, but I also think they made some quite good music. Pop-rock, or whatever one would call it. Maybe they just never made anything that will last. That indefinable "Quality" thing... Kansas: used to listen to their more progressive albums but hardly ever anymore. Can't really say why.

Toto (another stinker), I don't think we're in Kansas anymore... Many thanks to waffles for the mention of David J. Schow's story "Lonesome Coyote Blues" which resides in the author's collection Seeing Red, which I have access to. I consider myself lucky to have purchased a poncho (not from Sears) just a few days ago. Splat away!

I've always hated Silverchair. Has anyone seen their latest video? Mix one part U2 and one part George Michael and...

Thanksfor reminding me how much I love to loathe U2. The mentions of Black Sabbath, after their fourth album also reminds how much I loathe REM (after their fourth album). This is fun!

AC/DC's popularity has always puzzled me. But then again they are the consummate band for adolescent males. Sex and violence rocks, apparently, and sells millions of albums...

U2 was still the most consistently good popular band of the 80s...even into the 90s.

Lemme tellya, you guys is spoilt -- try listenin' to bands like Attila, or Edhels...
