The Agonizing Resurrection of Thomas Ligotti Online

The Stars are Right
Thomas Ligotti Online is proud to unveil our new site, which is now officially live. The interface is completely restructured from the ground up.

My Work Is Not Yet Done
There are several elements of the site still under construction, either feature inclusion or aesthetics. Be sure to post any errors/bugs/comments/complaints/praise within the forum.

An Invitation is Extended
You should have received an email providing your username and password for access to the new board. You are not required to be a member to access the site. Guests are quite welcome. Members will be allowed a higher level of access, however, and registration is encouraged.

Introductory Notes
There will be instructional information compiled on the new site, however there are two items which may be of particular interest. Your new password, which was randomly generated, may be changed by logging in and proceeding to the Registering tab of the Profile menu selection. If you do not have a broadband connection and find the graphics tedious to load, or if you find the parchment backgrounds reduce legibility, you may change the graphical template by proceeding to the Profile tab of the Profile menu selection, and further selecting the Profile Settings option. Under Board Style, select FI Subice from the dropdown menu. This template features solid color light backgrounds and a simple font group. There will be additional templates to follow, which will change the entire presentation of the site to suite each members personal taste.

See You Anon
Right, then. Be sure to check out the new site. There are several outstanding features which have been integrated, with more to come!

Excellent, excellent, excellent, Brian. I'm sure I'll have many more times to make such a comment as I browse around the site, but I thought I'd go ahead and make it here.

To anybody who hasn't tried the simpler background style (without the parchment background) and is stuck with a modem connection like me, I strongly urge you to try it, as it makes the load time for every page on the site much more reasonable.

Thanks, Matt. Your praise is very much appreciated. I worked very hard on this project and I am elated that everyone has been so supportive.

I am glad the alternate template helps with regard to your connection speed. There are other templates in the works, two being subBlack (black background with orange text) and TLO Corporate (original site background and text coloration). Both of these will also cater to bandwidth challenged members. The intent is to provide each member the option to select a template that suits taste, legibility and speed preferences.

Greetings, my friends! The new TLO web site looks great. I found it rather confusing first, but am getting used to it now. I'm an old woman, you know? Every change in my life makes me strain the brain
Anyway, Brian, you've done a mega lot of hard work! Praise, praise!

At last the ressurection is complete.

Already I can hear the echoes of agonising screams and the gibbering of lunatics. A very homely place indeed!

It's certainly a rather opulent palace of morbidity we have here. I am reminded somewhat of Poe's 'The Masque of the Red Death'. Actually, it occurred to me recently that computer avatars have a similar function to the costumes at a masquerade. Talking of which, who is the artist responsible for the new and demented avatars? I think they're superb.

I was definitely aiming for a certain atmosphere with the avatar selections, although already confined to my personal taste. There are several artists featured, many of which are represented within the Album galleries. You may view the available avatars within the Avatar section of your Profile Control Panel, or by proceeding directly here:
http://www.ligotti.net/nightmare/profile_avatar.php

There is a dropdown menu therein where you can view the various avatar directories. A quick summary of some of the artists therein would include: Besinski, Brauer, Alan Clark, Coulthart, Fuchs, Jason Van Hollander, Daryl Hutchinson and various Polish artists from posters. The puppets are from various sources, my favorite being the striking effigies created by artist Scott Radke. All artists will be identified within the Album at some point, with additional information to supplement the glorious art.

The site looks great! I can't wait to play around with the new interface and features. If only I had more time away from the lab...

Excellent Job Dr. B! Keep up the good work.

Hello:

This site is absolutely outstanding. I'm sure Thomas Ligotti is proud. There's something for everyone and the more I look the more I find -- wonder how I have to time eat and sleep.

Exceptional in concept; exceptional in design. You deserve the utmost in praise.

Barry
