Re: To Whom It May Concern

I have now added my identity card (from the post-war years) to the "Beachcombing time's Plutonian shore" album. There are two scans, the interior and exterior of the card, this is the latter.

The fountain pen handwriting of officials seen in the interior clearly belongs to another age.

Not only no biometric data in those days (not that I know what biometric data is) but no photograph. I believe that this applied to adult cards as well as this under sixteen one. The card would have expired in 1962, had identity cards not been abolished long before. Now the government want to bring identity cards back... sort of, anyway... what the government people have in mind is nothing like this card.

Oh -- and the card really is made of card!

I have just downloaded another 16 pictures to my albums. Five of them are of my halloween diorama (giving a much better idea of it than the previously posted pictures). The other eleven are of this year's Nativity. Here's a sample of the latter:

Just to let people know that I have labyrinthitis:

:drunk:

I've been to the doctor and have some pills, but my head is still spinning, and I can't cope with the kind of posts one finds on the TLO!

I should be back soon. :)

Thanks!

The pills are helping a lot, but I still have a bit of a way to go.

I have suffered from this condition previously, and it can be quite a miserable predicament. My first experience was the most acute. After waking, I stood up to walk across the room and the room began to spin violently. I fell to the floor and thereafter attempted to crawl back to the bed while in a massive state of panic. I could not even keep my balance in this position and would alternate crashing against the two walls of the hallway. I was convinced that I was having a stroke when I attempted to call out for my wife and I could not utter a word. Evidently I was so overwhelmed with fear that my mental faculties had momentarily dissipated. There are also exercises to relieve and prevent this condition, though I have found rest to be the best remedy for my bouts with this horrific malady. Best to rest, Pet! Get well soon!

My second attack was the worst. I was in the bathroom, unable to stand. Mostly, I just lay down as the ceiling spun above me. Every once in a while, I rose to my knees to be sick. Perhaps the worst thing was not knowing whether it would pass -- I wondered whether I'd pass the rest of my life in that condition.

Well, that's worrying. Perhaps you should go back to the doctor. Get well soon.des

To clarify --
  • My first attack was on Wednesday (not too bad)
  • My second attack was on Thursday (dreadful)
  • A second bad attack was on Friday morning
  • I went to the doctor later on Friday morning, was prescibed some pills and have not had a bad attack since
