Re: Ex Occidente Press
Colin Insole is THE literary discovery for me this past year. Both "Oblivion's Poppy" and "Alcyone" are amazing works. The use of language, the atmosphere generated and the actual stories told are completely amazing. I really cannot recommend him enough. Thank you Ex Occidente!

Re: Ex Occidente Press
I hope to get a copy a Alcyone after my next payday. For now I'm dangerously low on funds after purchasing Tarshishim in the same month as christmas!
A few words on Tarshishim - the main book, Tears of the Gods, will delight those with even a slight (as in my case) knowledge of esoteric and occult history. I recognised all the major players, but I'm sure there are references I may not be getting due to lack of knowledge. There are many memorable, atmospheric scenes, and some sections were so well written I immediately re-read before continuing. The box set also contains a number of short stories printed on extremely high quality paper. Far from being a mere "extra", these pages are the equal of Tears of the Gods, especially due to the inclusion of the highly evocative 'Suburbs of the Black Lyre'. I am definately under it's spell at the moment, but for me it ranks among the best weird/dark fiction I have read this year. I believe this story was originally going to be included in the Bulgakov homage, but ended up in this collection. |
Re: Ex Occidente Press
just received into the house "TARSHISHIM - boxed limited edition" by Ron Weighell - but I am not allowed to open it until Christmas Day!

Re: Ex Occidente Press
No sign of Tarshishim in Copenhagen yet. I suspect it will arrive after Christmas.

Re: Ex Occidente Press
Only 30 or so copies of Tarshishim were received from my binding company. I do have the book itself, the Occult Journal (Summoning of Ancient Dust) and the other Tarshishim inserts, but not the box itself. The only missing item is the large box. Everything was going fine, despite being December, which is always an unreasonable busy time both at printers and binding factories. The nail in the coffin manifested itself through yet another important- "It-is-urgent-Mr.Ghetu-we-cant-let-it-go-we are-sorry!!" commission which my binding factory accepted, before they even finished the boxes for Tarshishim. The result can be easily guessed. The Tarshishim boxes were put on standby until they will finish their other, more money rewarding, commisions. In other words, those who did not received their Ron Weighell set, should expect it at their door by 14-18 January, 2012.
January is also the month when the mighty Secret Europe will be released, together with This Hermetic Legislature: A Homage to Bruno Schulz. I am currently working on Secret Europe; next week I will forward the PDF to Mark and John for a final proof-read. Those expecting just another standard Ex Occidente Press volume will be pleasantly surprised, I hope. There is absolutely nothing standard about this book, not the layout, nor the materials used for it, nor the size / format of it or anything else. Regards, Dan |
Re: Ex Occidente Press
"just another standard Ex Occidente volume"? Come on Dan, when was there ever a standard EO book? I am looking forward to the new (and old nudge, nudge) delights you'll have on offer in 2012.
