Hello All,

I think I should post a quick update on the current state of Ex Occidente Press and Zagava now, before I will be offline for seven days, more or less. My life in the last two weeks have been brimstome, soot and hellish fire. I deserve nothing less, indeed yes, I am aware of that. Over the next days I will stay at an ENT clinic in Bucharest for investigations and treatment. The doctor told me I will have to stay there for ten days but of course, I can't and I won't stay for such a long time. Hopefully two-three days will be enough. Please do accept my apologies if I will be incapable of responding quickly to messages, inquires, etc.

Des, I don't feel the need of an Ex Occidente Press website at the moment but Jonas recently told me that he will set-up a sort of a website / shop-system for all the Ex Occidente Press / Zagava Books titles.

Finally, we are very happy to share with you the printing schedule for Zagava / Ex Occidente Press, up to August, 2014. What is more important is that from now on we will give our best to respect and stick to the schedule. :)

Salut,
Dan

Thanks for posting this Des, it does include nearly the full canon. :)
For those that are interested, the following 4, would bring the entire index to completion:

Madder Mysteries by Reggie Oliver
The Horrifying presence by Jean Ray
Putting the Pieces in Place by R.B Russell
Rite of the Trebizond and Other Tales by Mark Valentine and John Howard

I actually have a copy of Madder Mysteries and accidentally missed it off my list.
And I have read and reviewed a version of the RB Russell book.

[This is a reply to Dan's recent post]

Sorry to hear about your recent tribulations, Dan. I just need to put on record hear that the title of my proposed books is: 'Vandike and I', NOT 'Ex Anglia reversus' - that is the title of another book down the line. I'd be grateful if you could correct this error. Best, Brian.

Ah. I just came on here to say I'm disappointed that the Brian Howell book has been pushed back another 6 months to July. And also to say that it's great that it looks to be expanded to two titles. But now, two books? Great to see some more work of yours in print. I loved The Sound of White Ants.
Are these new works both novels/novellas or is one a collection?

Yes, pleased to see Brian Howell's work forthcoming.
His work was, a number of years ago, in an edition of Nemonymous. And I recall enjoying a novel by him about Vermeer the painter. :)

Re: Ex Occidente Press

Also, Dan, you have my sympathy. I'm cursed with the daily blight of a chronic ENT issue myself.
To quote a Foetus song: "I'd rather die young than diurnal"

I hope you get fixed up without pain and fuss.
Best,
Ross

Hi, Des. Thanks for the unexpected praise and bringing some of my few publications to light. It's been a while … Of course, the story you published in nemonymous was also published in The Sound of White Ants. For anyone interested in the latter, you can only get this used online and in secondhand bookshops but there were only 500 copies so the Internet is your best bet. There are more of The Dance of Geometry (the Vermeer novel) around, but that's also out of print; still, you can definitely get it online used/new.

At this stage I don't think I can expand on what is happening with 'Vandike [sic] and I', but what I will say is that I've spent most of the last ten years writing about the main character in Vandike and I. You do the math ;).

It's also fair to add that I have developed a lot of the same themes from The Dance of Geometry and gone a lot deeper into the period.

Here's to hoping Dan gets better soon and the next batch comes out with no great delay ...
