Hey! I suggested a home page placement of the quotation as a kind of recruitment poster when I posted the entire passage some time ago.

Strange, I do not recall seeing that post. Occasionally your quotations are buried by your own productivity.

Brian, you told me that people probably wouldn't even notice it.

I did? Am I losing my mind? None of this seems familiar to me.

It must have been one of those pesky, fleeting, ephemeral Private Messages. Anyway, here is the passage again in its entirety:

"A multinational corporation is dreaming. We are an organization of more than 100 thousand souls (full-time) and are presently seeking individuals willing to trade their personal lot for a share in our dream. Entry-level positions are now available for self-possessed persons who can see beyond the bottom line to a bottomless realm of possibilities. Our enterprise is now thriving in a tough, global marketplace and has taken on a life all its own. If you are a committed, focused individual with a hunger to be part of something far greater than yourself... our door is now open. Your life need not be a nightmare of failure and resentment. Join us. Outstanding benefits."

No, I think not. I would certainly recall if you ever sent me one of that type. I am convinced that you either held the conversation with yourself during a keen bout of your own drunkenness, or you held the conversation with me during a keen bout of my own drunkenness. If we should ever get our drinking patterns in sync, our collective recall would either be nil or a shared moment of perfectly distilled clarity.

Then it must have been ShoutBox, Mr. Quisser. and :drunk:.

As always, thank you for your service, Brian. And thanks to everybody else who has made and continues to make TLO quite the dazzling little corner of cyberspace. This applies especially to Jon.

I'm thinking that Brian and Jon should rightly be considered the equivalent of Nyarlathotep to Tom's Azathoth. If we're speaking Lovecraft, that is.

My only regret is that it's taken me so long to get here. I truly adore TLO. It has felt like home from ye first. I first knew of it when I did a google on my name, and the W. H. Pugmire thread came up, and I was SO HONOUR'D that LIGOTTI fans -- whom I knew HAD to be among ye moft INTELLIGENT of creatures, had any interest in my work. & thus when I finally got online, the FIRST thing I did was come here and join up. I was hoping that you's could clue me in on where to find all of Tom's writings, which are difficult to find here in Seattle. I never expected that being here wou'd so enrich my personal and artistic life. I felt so welcome here, immediately. It's so much fun, and you are all so patient with my eccentric ways and clownishness! Thank you!

Oddly, I have a similar feeling. Though I enjoy more reading discussions than participating, I get a horrible feeling as if something is getting wrong every time I write.
Also I already recognize pretty many members; can't find any single boring avatar.

... and happy b-day TLO.

edit: Oh dear, how I feel miserable now after posting this

I seem to have missed the site's birthday. Was it before I got back on line? The last week has become a blur... :drunk:

Thank you, Brian, anyway -- and Phil, and all of you who render this place what it is. :)

Many congratulations to TLO and all who sail in her! My sole regret is I don't pop in here as often as I should. Mark S.

We are very happy to have you here! I've regretted that my increased writing schedule is keeping me away. I can tell how much TLO means to me because these past few days I've missed being here. I'm grateful that my writing is taking off and I'm becoming more creative, &c, but I know that one reason for my new concentration on writing weird fiction is the inspiration found in my two months here among you wonderful Ligottians!
