I've been playing Prey (the 2017 version). Recommended for fans of the System Shock series.

I still want to play Alien: Isolation on VR. At the very least, it would give me an excuse to play through it on Nightmare again.

I picked up The Evil Within 2. I played through the first one a bunch of times, despite it being somewhat of a mess, and so far this feels more cohesive.

Finished. Less messy than the first game and a somewhat satisfying conclusion to the story arc. I have to admit that I find these 'survival action' titles to be fundamentally compromised as survival horror, but due to a lack of choice I still pick them up, and 'Resident Evil 4, but not as good' is still a pleasant way to while away the hours.

I'm contemplating buying a game called Detention.

Haven't played video games in a dog's age. The original Far Cry was my favorite but I loved Clive Barker's first game and the original Fallout (I kept my wolfish dog alive at the end!).
Unlike many I loved Doom 3.

Thanks, Hidden X. You know, I really loved the "pinky demon" in Doom 3. Great work by Id. Frater also reminds me the original "Prey" was pretty good as well. Too bad the sequel never materialized. Same can be said about Clive Barker's Undying. A brilliant game that should have had a follow up but, inexplicably, sold poorly.

Back in those days just getting the game to run really well on a pc was a game and a challenge in itself, editing config files, downloading patches, looking for workarounds. It could be frustrating but it was often fun. Soulbringer was a favorite of mine but the game at a few points had game killing bugs. You really needed a walkthrough to bypass them. Funniest one: I killed the Bad Guy in a boss battle and then couldn't figure out where to go next for the game to end. Thing was they didn't expect you to kill the boss here...but foolishly gave him a ton of hit points all the same. I had to go back to a save and let him escape.

I finished Outlast 2. I enjoyed the school sections and the much maligned ending, but most of the level design was terrible, and the 'trial and error' repetitive chase gameplay wasn't as well done as in the original. Plenty of times there was no way of knowing which door to open first time round, so the game wasn't playing fair. For the entire second half of the game the player has to die often enough to remember the correct route. Rinse and repeat.

The original and its DLC are the better games, which is a shame as I thought the plot for the sequel was vastly superior.

I am about to start Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers 20th Anniversary Edition, after finishing the three games of the series years ago.
