My experience of a surgery
Dear friends,
I'm happy to visit TLO after eleven horrible days in the hospital. An inflammation of my appendicitis kept me there for six days without food or water, before they could operate on me. On the day of the surgery i was relieved that the moment had finally arrived but the worst was yet to come. At some point i woke up on the operating table. I could hear the doctors, i could feel the pain but i couldn't move.I wanted to open my eyes, tell them to stop but i couldn't do that either. From that point i don't remember anything. The next moment i was in the resuscitation room, feeling extreme pain, despite the huge dose of painkillers they had already given me. When i told the surgeon, he turned to his assistant and said: That must have been the moment that i told you she is waking up. Anyway, i'm back home now, trying to recover. Thank you all for your messages. I'll respond to each and everyone of you personally as soon as i get myself together. Yours Aggeliki |
Re: My experience of a surgery
That sounds ghastly - commiserations extended. I once woke up as they were wheeling me out of theatre and found the pain excrutiating (they quickly dosed me with morphine). On another occasion, they forced me to swallow painkillers just half hour after a tonsilectomy. Doctors are sadists. They should be forced to take their own cures.
Anyway, best of luck with your recovery. JK |
Re: My experience of a surgery
Aggeliki, that is a truly horrifying story.,, and !
Get well soon! |
Re: My experience of a surgery
Oh, Aggi! I'm terribly sorry for your torments. I understand how awful that can be, as well--the doctors gave me shots of Demerol to kill the pain of an excruciating kidney stone episode, but it only made me delirious and unable to effectively curse the doctors coherently. Oh, and when my wife was giving birth to our eldest, a last second emergency ceasarian was ordered due to the baby being in serious distress (cord double-wrapped on her neck, heart was stopping). In their haste, they made a hipbone to hipbone incision without the benefit of anesthesia. They THOUGHT she had an epiudiural, but the greenhorn doctor could never get it to work...Anyway, Agge, all my best wishes for a swift recovery. Asclepius be with you.Yours,-J

Re: My experience of a surgery
Sorry to hear of your suffering. I hope that you are well on the way to recovery. At least we only have one appendix so you won't have to go through this again. I've had my own share of physical suffering and hospital experiences to share your pain.
