With apologies to Hell-Ghost for following up with something less highbrow and nuanced (I played it to a friend recently and can't resist posting it here).

Because what with all the talk of cosmic indifference and macabre sublimes people sometimes forget that Lovecraft's work is also about aeons old cults plotting in the dark and engineering the return of tentacled abominations from beyond linear space-time:
