I find myself listening constantly to ritual music from the village of Joujouka in Morocco that's related to its extremely ancient fertility festival, Aid el Kbir, and its cult of a goat deity named Bou Jeloud. The festival's ritual involves dressing a young boy with the skin of a freshly slaughtered goat so that he becomes possessed by Bou Jeloud. The child/goat deity then runs around the village to "spread panic" as the musicians play with abandon. The rites are clearly very ancient and are of a piece with well-known cults such as those of the goat deity Pan.

The traditional music that accompanies the rites is quite effective at creating an impression of supernatural panic. It's quite uncanny stuff to listen to, particularly if you keep the ritual context in mind.

I enjoy this kid unironically. As an MC, he's mediocre, but the meat of his tracks lie in the dreamy production.
