Wish I had been there. How did you like the Desertshore material that they presented? Featuring vocals by Antony, Marc Almond and Blixa Bargeld, so I've been told. What was your impression?

Pretty damn good, really. Antony's vocals over a very dazzling, erotic, Sleazy-esque Janitor of Lunacy was superb in particular (and I say that while not being a massive fan of Antony & the Johnsons generally). Really looking forward to hearing the finished studio album, especially since the recent Chris and Cosey stuff has been sublime, in my opinion.

I liked Antony's first album a lot (the one with the blue cover originally released by Durtro), but for the most part I'd rather not think of what came after (the Horror!). I can't wait to hear his voice in the context of TG though. And to hear Marc Almond singing on 'The Falconer'. I wondered who would sing on that one. Marc's voice and style of singing strikes me as very well suited for it. TG's Desertshore would easily be the record I've been looking forward to with the greatest anticipation ever, if it were not for that new Scott Walker album due later this same year.

Yeah, I thought Antony's first album wasn't too bad at the time, although the production was a bit too cheesy for my taste. The prospect of new Scott Walker material does fill me with glee, too. Let's hope we don't have to wait much longer.

I also don't want to go to the beach, but here is an old (un-Ligottian) favourite of mine.

Not a song, but a band: Fearless Vampire Killers, neo-goth painted dandies who sing songs about burning palaces, scheming cardinals and dead guys in bow ties. Saw them live this week and they were fearsome. If songs you must have, try Fetish for the Finite or Could We Burn, Darling?

Ian's voice on this alternate take of The Eternal is about the most beautiful I've heard it.

The song itself is nothing special, but the video is quite entertaining.

Favourite song at the moment - a bit of a toss up between the following:

And:

The album from which the last song comes actually has better tracks on it, but I like this video, too. I believe it to be well done (as all these videos are, in fact). I like the little story in the second song. Very chilling.
