Apart from the "old sensitive man" mannerisms of that Bill Fay song, it's obviously very much of a spirit with this one:

This is why I both loathe and yet love the internet. I should have gone to bed hours ago, yet after drunkenly browsing YouTube come up with the following gem. Some glorious fusion of past and present.

great music for hanging out in the back yard with the family (as depicited in the recent movie Sinister, which is where i heard it) Exclusive: Director Scott Derrickson on the Sounds of 'Sinister' | Interview | FEARnet has lots of links the to the spooky background music used in that movie.

but more than anything else at present,
which would be delightful in a horror movie, but hasn't made it into one yet.

The music of Eighties band, Felt. Cryptic lyrics, great choruses, intricate instrumentation, and strange beauty. Eccentric. That same sense of melancholy joy I look for in books. Things like "Penelope Tree" and "Sunlight Bathed the Golden Glow" are glorious pop songs that also breathe intelligence and have an oblique poetry. I don't have a particular link to post, or indeed know how to, but they are worth finding.

But still all this horror
Has made a trench out of my soul
I'm gonna have to fall in love with a blind girl
So she will not see the shame that I know

A wonderful band, I agree:

"Try To Win a Friend," from Barbra Streisand's new cd, RELEASE ME, a collection of unreleased songs from her vault. The song is amazing, and makes me wish that Streisand would release a country album.

Ligottian lyrics + rockin' rhythms = greatness. Play loud.

A lil' something for Halloween, from a musician whose work could be described as soundtracks for the films Argento and Fulci never got around to making:

Is there an error on the board? My previous videos and those of one or two others don't seem to show up anymore, at least on my machine.

Are you pasting only the URL of the video? They were there, but hidden as links instead. The data was there, but it was not being converted due to the tagging being incorrect. I myself am puzzled, however, as I recall previously seeing at least one of them myself. I fixed the two recent ones and will dig deeper.

EDIT
There were several missing videos and it appears that the media tags need to be rebuilt. I rebuilt the database recently as a maintenance precaution and perhaps this caused the issue. I will be rebuilding the tags this morning. It is a lengthy yet automated procedure, and hopefully all will be set right soon. I expect that some embedded videos are not displaying properly throughout posts and visitor messages alike. This has happened once before, and the rebuild worked well.

I think the rebuild worked, but if anyone notices video embeds not displaying, please let me know.

Sunday morning here in the Appalachian mountains and this truly is my favorite song at the moment.
