I feel so embarrassed when I read this thread. Everybody has such weird and wonderful songs that they listen to. I hate to confess it but the song that has been stuck in my head all day is "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves. What is wrong with me?

With many thanks to Joel, for mentioning Dory Previn in one of the stories in Earth Wire. Without that, I probably wouldn't have heard of Dory Previn.

Poe: "Angry Johnny"

Not a new song by any means but Poe is the only woman who can tell me that she is going to kill me in explicit detail and simultaneously be incredibly hot.
Also, as an added bonus I figure if I survive her murder attempt(s) I could talk to her brother Mark Danielewski about "House of Leaves" which would be pretty cool.

Kim Gordon is also pretty good at this sort of thing. See "Shoot," "Cinderella's Big Score," and maybe "Orange Rolls, Angel's Spit," and . . . and . . . . Well, I'm trying to remember, but I think it may be one of her favorite themes as a songwriter!
