Re: Your favourite song at the moment..
Whoever came up with the idea of having scenes from the girl-who-tortures-cats part of Satantango accompany Pärt's 'Salve Regina' is a genius.

I saw the band, Luxury Stranger, in London this weekend gone. Given how that evening turned out this song may have proved prophetic.

This reminds me of Arthur Bremer, the decidedly apolitical-almost assassin of George Wallace.

Re: Your favourite song at the moment..
"Ich liebe dich, mich reizt deine schöne Gestalt; Und bist du nicht willig, so brauch' ich Gewalt." – "Mein Vater, mein Vater, jetzt faßt er mich an! Erlkönig hat mir ein Leids getan!" – Dem Vater grauset's, er reitet geschwind, Er hält in Armen das ächzende Kind, Erreicht den Hof mit Müh' und Not; In seinen Armen das Kind war tot. "I love thee, I'm charm'd by thy beauty, dear boy! And if thou'rt unwilling, then force I'll employ." "My father, my father, he seizes me fast, For sorely the Erl-King has hurt me at last." The father now gallops, with terror half wild, He grasps in his arms the poor shuddering child; He reaches his courtyard with toil and with dread, – The child in his arms finds he motionless, dead. |

This album is so hilariously brilliant. The one thing I miss the most about 80's art culture is that is never took itself too seriously. This is like the modern day, aural representation of that for me. |

In an alternate universe, AC/DC is a punk band called The Sex Pistols. (Think about it.)
I live near a bell tower that tolls the hours in an oddly familiar tone and cadence. Many years ago, I used to walk past that tolling bell on my way to class. Now I only hear it if my windows are open and the wind is from the right direction. It never fails to start this song in my head: "You're only young but you're gonna die." |
