Love Songs
It's that time of year. Is it not?
Love... What is it? ... The most natural instigator of suffering that there is. Which are the songs (or pieces of music) that speak most strongly to you of this strangely overpowering phenomenon in its different aspects, however you may conceive of them? These are the best ones I can think of having come across (in no particular order): Mysteries of Love (as sung by Antony & the Johnsons - written by David Lynch & Angelo Badalamenti) You Stand Above Me (Antony & the Johnsons) Gabriel (Marc Almond & Michael Cashmore) Tonight (Marc Almond with Othon) Interlude (Morrissey) My Dearest Love (Morrissey) There is a Light that Never Goes Out (The Smiths) In Dreams (Roy Orbison) Song to the Siren (This Mortal Coil - originally by Tim Buckley) Love Theme from Mulholland Drive (Angelo Badalamenti) And Still (Jocelyn Montgomery, David Lynch & Angelo Badalamenti) Vocalise (Rachmaninoff, sung by Anna Moffo) All of Me (as done by Nurse With Wound - written by Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons) Sometimes (My Bloody Valentine) To Drown a Rose (Death In June) Almost a Kiss (Throbbing Gristle) I've Told Ev'ry Little Star (as sung by Linda Scott) Popsicles & Icicles (The Murmaids) I'm sure there are others, but these are the ones I can think of right now. I'd LOVE to hear what yours are. |

Re: Love Songs
Are the members of TLO largely unfamiliar with this sensation, or just too shy about it?
Songs or music that express sentiments peculiar to long-lasting mutual relationships -(something I've been spared of so far)- are also of interest. But I suppose the lyricism usually abates the longer a relationship goes on. |

Re: Love Songs
let's lower the tone a little:
(Not being flippant, incidentally, this does have a lot of memories for me.) |
