What Movie Would You Like to See Remade?
My choice would be the recent Frankenstein's Army (2013).
IMDb Plot Summary: "Toward the end of World War II, Russian soldiers pushing into eastern Germany stumble across a secret Nazi lab, one that has unearthed and begun experimenting with the journal of one Dr. Victor Frankenstein. The scientists have used the legendary Frankenstein's work to assemble an army of super-soldiers stitched together from the body parts of their fallen comrades -- a desperate Hitler's last ghastly ploy to escape defeat." It combines gothic horror and Nazi super-science. I think the added elements of Dr. Frankenstein's journal and playing on the advanced technological threat of Germany towards the end of the war elevates this above the recent Nazi zombie flicks. http://twitchfilm.com/assets_c/2013/...uto-40274.jpeg The film is inventive in its use of costumes for the "army", but it suffers from budget constraints and is pretty crude in a number of other areas. I think it has great money-making potential in that it is both a horror and a war/action movie. I considered a serious version of Iron Sky (the dark side of the moon Nazis) but the whole "Nazis in space" has already been done by George Lucas. It made a few dollars. |

"Seconds" with Rock Hudson, just to see if someone could pull it off that well again.

Another movie I would like to see remade is Mars Attacks! I didn't hate the Tim Burton version like a lot of people did, but it would be a completely different movie in another creative team's hands. Perhaps a serious version. But that may be too similar to War of the Worlds by Wells to be made any time soon. https://blu170.mail.live.com/Handler...rs-attacks.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/31558613@N00/sets/72157625601126001/ |

Please, God please, remake the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The movie was an abomination. It needs, nay deserves, a remake.

I would like to see a proper I Am Legend movie for once. I do like the Vincent Price adaptation, btw, but the original story is so good, I don't see why they have to mess with it. Also a proper Phantom of the Opera. One that has nothing to do with the musical, please.

The Thing

I don't know, 'The Thing' has already been filmed three times, and I would say Carpenter's version is pretty much superlative; it certainly wasn't surpassed by the prequel/remake of several years ago, which was unfortunately quite flat despite the use of some interesting body-horror CGI, and the always appreciated presence of Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

8 mm - great idea so far as plot and characters, terrible execution and an overdrawn ending.
The Crow; bring back Alex Proyas as director, but try not to kill lead actor until all non-action scenes have been filmed. Finally, every Philip K. Dick adaption except Blade Runner |
Re: What Movie Would You Like to See Remade?
A somewhat darker Forbidden Planet--Without the silliness and with emphasis on the Lovecraftian sense of Cosmic Wonder glimpsed in the film's second half.
Some films simply shouldn't be remade. Phantasm was rough around more than the edges but it had a charm that would be impossible to duplicate. All you'd be left with would be a story that only made feeble sense. No doubt it would look magnificent. |
Re: What Movie Would You Like to See Remade?
They were going to remake the Crow with Brandon whateverhisname is from "The Hangover". Fortunately, it got lost in preproduction. Why would you want to remake a masterpiece like that?
