Re: Who Are You?
Hello. My real name is Rover. I was born in Sweden in 1999. I currently live in Michigan in the United States of America. In 2005, I was rescued by G. S. Carnivals in an international animal recovery effort which endeavored to find new homes for wretched creatures who were bereft. I had accompanied a Swedish expedition to Antarctica, of which only three humans (out of twenty-eight) and two dogs (out of seventeen) survived. I choose not to think or speak of this ever again, if possible. Forgive my pain. G. S. has allowed me access to his library as long as I don’t drool too much. I am an avid fan of the writings of Franz Kafka, Philip K. Dick, Jack Vance, and Thomas Ligotti.. Where music is concerned, I am a real freak over David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and thrashing punk bands of the late 1970s and early 1980s. I have been known to doodle with a band here and there myself. Roads girdle the globe, and I wish to trot upon them as I enjoy world travel (though not as much recently since I am no longer allowed to stick my head out of the window on commercial flights). I hope to make a useful contribution here at TLO from time to time. [And thanks for the welcome from the anonymous Guest via PM. (You know who you are, whoever you are.)]

Re: Who Are You?
Hi folks! My name is Love Kassius and I'm from Sweden. I enjoy, reading, writing, movies and philosophy. I admire Ligotti's work and thus this place seems fitting for me.
Cheers. |
Re: Who Are You?
Welcome to The Navidson Record! Two true confessions in a row from Swedish members. Consider the odds. Now if I could only work out an angle to win the lottery...

Re: Who Are You?
This is amazing! I found out about Ligotti only a few minutes ago after his site and latest essay were mentioned in the "Whispers of the Ghooric Zone" web log, and I can't help but be incredibly happy with the similarities between my interests and those of Ligotti and many readers who post in this site!
For example, I also listen to many of the musical works mentioned by the most recent posters, especially Romantic and Baroque classical music, New Wave (such as those mentioned in one section of the forums), and punk. I also read works by Borges, Lovecraft, Poe, Shelley, Burroughs, and a lot more (on account of my previous work, which was teaching Western lit in uni, including Dante, Shakespeare, Nabokov, Conrad, Mann, Woolf, Kafka, and Goethe), as well as various works from philosophy, religion, and the social sciences, such as Nietzsche and C.S. Lewis. I also enjoy academic classical art, especially those displayed by Art Renewal, as well as Renaissance, Medieval, and Romanesque works. I have a dark view of the world, enjoy post-apocalyptic media and horror (including games like the Fallout series and Call of Cthulhu, art films like those by Bela Tarr and works like The Seventh Seal, and so on). It looks like I will have to do a lot of catching up, though, because I have never read Ligotti. Ligotti's work described as "philosophical horror"? Two of my favorite words! |
Re: Who Are You?
I made too much words on this one...
Let's just jave a few. I'm an Austrian having lived the last few years in Berlin & now looking for another place to emigrate. One of my favourite stories of all time is Ligotti's "Purity". It's perfect. |
Re: Who Are You?
Hello there.
My name is Mads, I study litterature and modern culture on the University of Copenhagen. I'm 23 years old, and hate the feeling of growing older. I got into Ligotti through Current 93, which remains my favourite orchestra. During the summer, I'm supposed to be writing my BA thesis about Ligotti's fiction. However, being quite lazy, it will probalby last until next year. |
Re: Who Are You?
hello-my name is patrick mullins.this is the first and possibly only one of these online groups i've joined, ever. i'm 33 years old, am currently in self-imposed exile in kentucky, usa. came her from san francisco, plan to go back soon. have been a ligotti fan for years, since finding songs of a dead dreamer in a used bookshop. also enjoy q. crisp, terry lamsley, the classics (both jameses, poe, machen, machen, machen, lovecraft). attempts at writing my own fiction are negligible. spent time in a lot of bay area bands. currently recovering from a small-scale nervous breakdown. nice to be here, on this board, with likeminded folks.
cheers. |
Re: Who Are You?
Hi! I found this thread while looking for some Stefan Grabinski's... so I thought I'd drop a few lines as well ... My name is Lisa, I'm 26 years old and at the moment i live in Italy...I spent some time in Berlin studying philosophy...then came back, graduated and started working for a publishing house. It's all about philosohy..I'm doing a Phd, but I'm seriously thinking about dropping...I'm really disappointed by university.
Philosophy is just too rational, I need a way out: horror/weird fiction is my way out. Music is my way out. (My attempts in literature and music, of course, are going nowhere!). I'm planning to move to Tokyo next year. Let's see what happens... I really like this group and I'm happy I joined! Lisa |
