I only seen one episode but Southcliffe was pretty stylistically distinctive and engaging British television and seemed like it would stand up well against other modern shows. Not enough television has its own look, possibly because these long shows have revolving directors who have to stick to one style.

What I particularly like about this series is how elusive and abstract the ghostly threat tends to be. Neither it nor the methods employed to combat it are particularly well explained, so it falls on the production atmosphere and actors to sell the drama. It could easily have fallen flat, but so far I'm hooked.

Finished Sapphire & Steel. It obeys the (apocryphal) Trek movie rule in that the even-numbered assignments are the best. Assignment two is a classic of British television. I felt the same chills I did watching Quatermass and the Pit or the finale to The Prisoner.

Assignment two's train station setting and assignment six's motorway service station setting make them prime candidates for the type of liminal horror we have discussed on here before.

Saw the new Twin Peaks. SURREAL mystery beyond the weird, it gets into your brain and rides you like a surfboard. It is the uncanny reality of existence in the dreamland of David Lynch, as if Kafka had written a noir mystery with footnotes by Ligotti. What a ride!

I finished The Fall and will start Twin Peaks today. To say that the last two seasons of The Fall are a disappointment is a massive understatement.

It really is impressive work by Lynch. I can't get enough, I've watched the first four episodes four times each already. There is so much to take in and mull over, it's just a real joy to engage with art like this. Following Twin Peaks this summer is going to be a lot of fun!

I finished Sherlock today. The third season was much better than I remembered.

I have just finished watching Game of Thrones' seventh season premiere. It was pretty meh.
