Re: New hbomberguy video on Lovecraft
First half is okay, promises something both "nuanced" and amusing, but the rest is the usual overblown, preachy, borderline-slanderous "identity politics"-inspired hatchet job that typically accompanies the subject these days. It concludes with the declaration that all horror "should" in fact aspire to the example set by The Shape of Water, or at least that's where I finally checked out.

Eek. He even warned you.
I found his perspective interesting as it in some ways mirrored my own inner conflict, and it made me want to give Cthulhu another chance. I remember it being a mostly okay film until the rushed climax, which I found highly unsatisfying. It seemed as if they just ran out of time. |
