I'm glad that you've heard of Gardiner's Egyptian Grammar. It's a wonderful piece of scholarship, and still worth owning. When I read it in the 70s, Gardiner was definitely number one on this subject. But, were someone to ask me today for suggestions of books on Middle Egyptian, Gardiner would have slipped to 5th place on my list. In the number one spot would be How to Read Egyptian Hieroglyphs by Mark Collier and Bill Manley (1998) -- it's an excellent introduction.

This BB code thing never worked for me. I just copy the image and then paste it on the visitor messages space. Faster and easier! ;)

Just a quick response on how to post images in messages... What I do is first to post the picture in one of my albums. Then, I open the image in the album and that gives me a picture URL and a BB code. If I copy the BB code complete with "[IMG]" and "[/IMG]" and paste it into a message, then that does the trick. You can also get a BB code by posting images on such sites as Photo Bucket, but it seems pointless to do that when it's possible to do the whole thing on the TLO. There are probably other ways to get a BB code, but I don't know what they are.

To be honest, i haven't read a single word by him! What should i read first?
